Established in the 1880s

In 1888, John R Edwards founded a legal firm in Broken Hill. Only seven months later, a fire devastated the firm's first office. Still, nevertheless, John persisted in his endeavours and was appointed solicitor to the Municipality of Broken Hill. November 1910 saw John's son, Abdy Fellowes Edwards, join the firm, then known as John R. Edwards & Son.

Abdy ushered in an era of growth, and the firm was later purchased by Mitchell Austen Brown and Thomas John Brown, who renamed it John R. Edwards, Son and Brown. The firm continued to expand throughout the following decades, and in 1983 Andrew Boog joined the firm to spearhead its expansion into Dubbo.
